Included are writers in the areas of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism and more. Content is derived from over 400 reference sources; more than 360 scholarly journals and literary magazines; excerpts from scholarly monographs, literary correspondence and diaries; book reviews; multimedia; and selected websites. Among the reference sources are Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, Dictionary of Literary Biography and Merriam-Websterís Encyclopedia of Literature.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses
Information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses, ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester; those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Of the 1.5 million titles listed, UMI offers over a million in full text.
