Sport management
Due to the increasing interest and participation in sport and physical fitness, there is a need for qualified leadership in these areas. A sport management major provides the professional preparation necessary for assuming positions in a variety of sport and fitness careers. A core of 36 hours is required in the major with an additional 9 hours in the chosen interest area of sport communication or sport organization. An integral part of the major is the internship, a three-hour requirement in a job setting. Graduates will find careers in athletic administration, corporate fitness, sporting goods retail, sporting information, YMCA/YWCA and other similar opportunities.
