Cafe de Unie (reconstruction)
J. J. P. Oud
Destroyed during the bombing of 1940 but reconstructed in 1986Typical of De Stijl architecture, this facade is subdivided and uses bright primary colors (in striking contrast to the neighboring buildings). The facade is dramatic, decorative and functional--since it's like a large advertisement. See Rietveld's house in Utrecht for the exemplar of this style.
