All concentrations are completed either as standalone programs for educators already possessing teaching licensure or within the Master of Arts in Education course work. All programs leading to licensure or endorsement are approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and lead to Ohio Department of Education credentials. Requirements include course work, field hours, OAE examinations and an accepted application. 

Reading endorsement

Bluffton’s Reading Endorsement concentration is offered fully online. This program allows for flexibility and can be completed at your own pace.

  • Fulfills the Third grade Reading Guarantee requirement
  • State required fieldwork incorporated into the classes
  • Complete in as little as two semesters and one summer
  • Qualifies educators to teach reading (K-12) including Title 1
  • Five 3-semester hour courses
  • Non-sequential courses – you may start at any point

Intervention specialist licensure

Bluffton’s Intervention Specialist license is offered online via scheduled video conferences.

  • Teach students with mild to moderate education needs
  • Emphasis on differentiation in the classroom
  • Finish in 23 semester hours
  • Non-sequential courses – you may start at any point

Leadership concentration

Bluffton’s Leadership concentration focuses on the nature of supervisory relationships and the leader’s level of self-understanding and emotional intelligence within the role of a leader. Educators can complete this concentration in as little as two semesters.


Faith-based education concentration

NEW Bluffton’s faith-based education concentration is an outgrowth of the Mennonite Education Agency's Anabaptist Learning Institute (ALI) program which offers 10 credit hours of Christ-centered graduate-level coursework.
