The department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Bluffton University is dedicated to enhancing the relationship among individual, families, communities, and the environments in which they function. Family & Consumer Sciences, as a field of study, is an interdisciplinary field rooted in social sciences, natural sciences and humanities. It is a discipline which applies knowledge of human development and management to consumer issues related to food, clothing and housing. Family & Consumer Sciences are also known as human ecology and focuses on people, their environment and the improvement of the quality of life for individuals and families.
