Director of the Center for Career and Vocation
Bluffton University seeks qualified applicants for the position of director of the center for career and vocation. The successful candidate will possess a master's degree in student development or related field. Experience in career development and/or vocational discernment preferred. Strong and proven writing and supervising skills required as is the ability to communicate with a wide range of people: students from varied backgrounds, faculty from varied disciplines and individuals from the community from a variety of organizations. Experience using database software a plus.
The center provides career and vocational counseling and resources to Bluffton students and a centralized place of contact for outside organizations interested in working with our students and alumni. The director provides leadership and vision for the center, is responsible for implementing the center's programming and supervises the center's staff, including a graduate assistant and two student workers. The director works closely with faculty and staff members to integrate e-portfolios, internships and service learning into the academic program and with organizations in the surrounding communities to provide experiential learning and employment opportunities to our students and alumni. The center maintains an extensive database listing opportunities for jobs, internships and volunteering as well as tracking students' involvement in the community and post graduate employment. The center provides a place for exploration of vocation through information gathering, individual meetings, social networking, programming and discussions.
