Faculty Position in Communication (Multimedia Journalism)

Full-time; Tenure-Track; Rank dependent on qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in communication or related discipline; professional experience in a digital communications field.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a departmental initiative to integrate new and emerging digital concepts, techniques and skills in the curriculum of the Department of Communication and Theatre and to transform the current Broadcasting and Journalism major into a Multimedia Journalism major. Teach courses in multimedia journalism, social media, digital literacy and storytelling, and other departmental courses as needed; advise and supervise the student-directed multimedia news source; develop and supervise a network of internships that serve departmental majors; conduct research and/or creative work that supports and extends disciplinary, departmental and university missions; and provide leadership in program growth and development given the changing media environment.

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with education and experience within the university pay scale.

APPOINTMENT: Fall semester 2015.
