MARKETING MAJOR

New to the Bluffton EBA department:
Bluffton has provided a marketing concentration within the business administrator major for several years. This year, in response to the large number of students with a marketing concentration, Bluffton has created a new marketing major to be available in the fall of 2008. Marketing majors will have a concentration in either market research or promotions and branding.

Courses from EBA, communication, mathematics, art, family and consumer science, psychology and sociology departments are incorporated into the list of required and elective courses for the marketing major.

Marketing courses will offer hands-on experience. Students in upper-level courses will complete a number of projects that focus on creating a marketing plan for a real company and actually present that plan to company leaders. Marketing related internships are available to qualified seniors. Recent interships were served at the following companies.

Upon graduation, marketing majors may find jobs in consulting, market research, advertising or sales. In the past five years, business students from Bluffton have accepted marketing and sales positions at the following companies.

Pete Suter and Bill Lyons will be the primary marketing professors. Both faculty members are small business owners and have independent marketing and advertising experience.
