Licensed Clinical or Counseling psychologists have earned a doctoral degree (either a Ph.D. or a PsyD) and passed a professional licensing exam.

Licensed Professional Counselors have a master’s degree, most typically from master’s programs in counseling (NOT in counseling psychology) often situated in schools of Education. License professional counselors may also have a masters from a marital or family counseling program.
