Preparing for Graduate School

Students who plan to complete doctoral work need to maintain high GPA’s and obtain high scores on the GRE exam. Completing independent research and presenting that research at research conferences and completing a practicum placement (where relevant) all serve to increase the likelihood of acceptance into a program.

More information about admission requirements to doctoral programs in psychology is provided in the book Graduate Study in Psychology, available for purchase from the American Psychological Association or for review on the bookshelf outside the psychology offices on the 3rd floor of Centennial Hall. Another good resource regarding what graduate programs are looking for is the book The Complete Guide to Graduate School Admission: Psychology and Related Fields, available in the Bluffton College library.
