Constitution of the Bauman
Medical
Society
ARTICLE I: NAME
The
name of this organization shall be the Bluffton College
Bauman
Medical
Society.
The organization is named in honor
of Harvey and Ella Garber Bauman, who both graduated in the
Bluffton College Class of 1919.
Following their graduation, Harvey and Ella both
became physicians and worked as medical missionaries in
ARTICLE II:
PURPOSE
The
purpose of this organization is to enable students interested in a medical
career to experience and investigate different aspects of the field of medicine
and prepare themselves in the best way possible to be
candidates for a career in a health related field.
ARITCLE III:
MEMBERSHIP
All
persons interested in pursuing a medical career are eligible to become members
of the organization. In order to become
a member, one must fill out a simple application and attend most of the
scheduled meetings of the group.
ARTICLE IV:
ORGANIZATION OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND DUTIES
Section I: The
executive committee shall consist of three members and shall preside over all
meetings, communicate messages concerning club business to all members, appoint
committees, and work in conjunction with faculty advisors. The executive committee is responsible for
all duties concerning funds, minutes, attendance, and the arrangement of
activities.
Section II:
Faculty
advisors shall be either one or more of the pre-med advisors of the Bluffton
college science department.
ARTICLE V: ELECTIONS
Elections
for executive committee members shall be held in the spring semester of each
year. All members are eligible to vote
and run for a position on the executive committee. Current members of the committee are also
eligible for reelection. After new
committee members have been elected, the committee shall meet with the faculty
advisors for the purpose of transfer of duties and initial planning. Previous committee members should participate
in this meeting..
ARTICLE VI:
MEETINGS
Meetings shall be held as
needed. The times and places of these
meetings shall be communicated to the members by the executive committee.
ARTICLE VII:
AMENDMENTS
Any amendments or change to this constitution shall be formally proposed to the club at meetings and will be voted on by all members. A two-thirds majority is necessary to adopt any amendments to the constitution. Amendments must be approved by the faculty advisors.
