Parks have always played a vital role in the lives of Lima residents. Two parks fill this niche in the North End: Schoonover Park and Pool and Robb Park. Each went through a rather interesting history to get where it is today. Both have been made possible mainly because of the work by the people of Lima and the North End themselves, and not the city government. Today, you can still go to either park and hear the laughter and shouts of happy children running or playing on the playground, the crack of a ball leaving the bat, balls swishing through hoops, families enjoying a picnic, folks enjoying the quiet of a leisurely walk, or the silence of someone simply sitting there enjoying nature.
