Bluffton offers several opportunities for you to put your class work into practice.
The annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest provides the opportunity to compose and deliver a speech that applies Christian principles of peacemaking to contemporary social issues. The winner of the Bluffton competition advances to compete with winners from other Mennonite-related colleges and universities.

The former student newspaper, The Witmarsum, is now online. It is still staffed by Bluffton students who learn the basic skills of journalism and leadership.
Bluffton Connection
Bluffton's low-power FM station, 99.3 FM, provides experience in radio production, disc jockeying, on-air interviewing and sportscasting. WBWH features jazz and alternative rock programming and can be heard in an approximate 20-mile radius of Bluffton.

Opportunities for state-related experience, including acting, directing, design and stage management, are available through the theatre program. Traditionally, a drama or comedy is performed annually in the fall and a musical in the spring. On occasion, an evening of student-directed one-acts are presented. In addition, the newly-formed Improv Troupe give students the opportunity to develop improvisational skills.
