Due to the forecast of cool, windy and potentially damp weather in the next two days,
Bluffton's May Day and Commencement ceremonies have been moved to their inside locations.
May Day Ceremony changes, Saturday, May 3
The ceremony and Maypole dance will move to the Sommer Center, still at 11 a.m.
The buffet luncheon for the classes of the 1940-1980s will be in Marbeck Center as is customary, and the lunch on the lawn for the classes of the 1990s-2014 graduates and their parents will move inside to Burcky Gym. Students with a meal plan can use their student I. D. card to pay for the meal >>> May Day schedule
Commencement changes, Sunday, May 4
The class of 2014 will be the first class to experience commencement in the Sommer Center. Since the seating capacity of Sommer Center is nearly identical to that of Salzman Stadium, it will not be necessary to use the six "rain tickets" that graduates have previously received.
Sommer Center's doors will open at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday and seats will be first-come, first-served, just like the stadium seating. To help all families enjoy this special day, please keep in mind that if, on average, each graduate has eight guests (some will have less and some will have more), Sommer Center will be approximately filled. We look forward to an enjoyable and ceremonial event that will not be impacted by the weather.
Special-needs seating will still be available for those who requested it. Guests with special-needs drop-off passes can be driven to the Sommer Center entrance (via the visitor parking lot) and then cars can be parked in any available lot (including the large Bentley Road parking lot if necessary). In the Sommer Center visitor lot, there are limited handicapped parking spots for those with handicapped parking placards. They will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
At the conclusion of the event, graduates and faculty will recess out of the Sommer Center and to the Klassen Court and Burcky Gym areas. This is where families and graduates can meet for photos and goodbyes to friends and faculty.
USA FOTO in partnership with Grad Images will photograph each graduate as he/she receives their degree. All photos are 100 percent money-back guaranteed and will be received within 30 days of the order deadline date, if we received your order by that date. Late orders will require additional time to process.
