The heat and humidity took a day off last year for Bluffton University's 15th annual
Alumni & Friends Golf Outing on Saturday, July 21, 2012. The 35 teams of Bluffton
alumni, staff, friends and family enjoyed a perfect-weather day which began at 8:30
a.m. and ended after lunch and prizes at 3 p.m. To keep play moving on such a full
course, teams were instructed to play par as your friend.
Emeritus Trustee Dick Cripe `56 from Syracuse, Ind., headed up the winning team last
year, which included Kyle Miller, Shane Tom and Timm Bledsoe. The second place team
was Kevin Strahley `80 from Colorado, Mike Benroth `86 and Mark Hartman `79 both
from Ohio, and their friend Jay Daniels. The third place team included Nate Clements
`98, John Holzwart `98, and John Stephens `98, all from Ohio.
Former football Bluffton coaches Ken Mast and Carlin Carpenter typically return to
participate in the outing which raises close to $10,000 annually for Bluffton University
athletics.
2013 fees and sponsorship opportunities:
- Individual - $90
- Team (4-person scramble format) - $360
Prices include greens' fees, golf cart and luncheon following the scramble. - Lunch only - $15
