In 2007, more than 100 alumni and friends from Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington and Ontario, Canada, gathered for the 10th annual Bluffton University golf scramble. This was the second largest team participation and the largest sponsor participation in the 10-year history of the event. Sponsors included four corporate sponsors (Judson Laipply `98, MMA Praxis Mutual Funds, Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio and T&D Interieors, Inc.), one team sponsor, ten hole sponsors, four cart sponsors, three TEAM Bluffton patrons and a hole-in-one car spnsorship by LaRiche Toyota Subaru. The event raised nearly $10,000 for TEAM Bluffton. Elbert Dubenion `58 was honored as the event's special guest. During lunch, guests watched highlights of Dubenion's 1964-65 championship season with the Buffalo Bills.
This event was initiated by alumni (Rod McDaniel `66, Lynn Martin `66, Hub Reed `68 and Mike Richards `73) who are passionate about supporting Bluffton athletics. It is an opportunity to renew friendships, build camaraderie and provide financial assistance for student athletes and special athletics department projects.
