Enjoy a weekend in New York City. You are invited to join Dr. Lucia Unrau, professor of music, and Bluffton music students – pianists Brandon Fullenkamp, Stephanie Patterson and Tim Yoder, along with student composer James Brake – for a piano recital and reception at Steinway Hall. Opportunities are available to tour the Steinway factory, take in a Broadway show, explore dazzling NYC neighborhoods and visit with President James M. Harder and Karen Klassen Harder.
 

Make your own travel and lodging arrangements, and logistics for events and transportation within the city will be provided as detailed below.

Thursday, Oct. 21
12:30 & 3 p.m. Alumni Director will be at LaGuardia airport passenger pickup area in a Bluffton University van to transport you to your Manhattan hotel. Please let the alumni office know your flight numbers and arrival times prior to Oct. 21.
7 p.m. Recital by Bluffton music students and Dr. Lucia Unrau at Steinway Hall at 109 W. 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues
8 p.m. Dessert reception in Steinway Hall with the performers and Bluffton President James M. Harder
  
Friday, Oct. 22
8:15 a.m. Steinway & Sons bus departs from 109 W. 57th Street for Steinway & Sons Factory tour in Long Island City
9:30 a.m. Guided tour includes watching these expert craftsmen shaping and bending the rim frame of their grand pianos
noon  Complimentary lunch on site at Steinway & Sons factory
1:30 p.m.  Arrival back in midtown Manhattan via Steinway’s bus
3 p.m. TKTS booth at Times Square opens for sale of Broadway show tickets at half-price
5:30 p.m. Join us for a complimentary dinner at Sardi’s hosted by Bluffton President James M. Harder and Karen Klassen Harder
8 p.m. Attend a Broadway show of your choosing. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the internet or check availability at any theater’s box office after your arrival in NYC
  
Saturday, Oct. 23
Explore your favorite NYC neighborhood, museums, stores and restaurants either alone or with your alumni friends. Visit the Henry Gregg Gallery to see an exhibit of ink drawings by Phil Sugden, Bluffton University assistant professor of art. This gallery is located just one subway stop into Brooklyn amidst a neighborhood of galleries and restaurants called “DUMBO.”
  
Transportation back to the airport is sometimes provided by the hotel or make your reservation with Supershuttle.
