BLUFFTON, Ohio - Less than nine hours after matches finished last night, teams were in the gym ready to go for day two of the HCAC/OAC Crossover. Bluffton was off for the first round of matches and then came up against the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets.
Bluffton struggled to get things going in the first set and lost 25-18. The Beavers won the next two sets convincingly, 25-10 and 25-16. The Yellow Jackets came back to win the fourth set 25-13 before Bluffton finally put their foot down to claim the match, 15-8, in the final set. Hitting at a .467 clip with nine kills was LAUREN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley). MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) served the first 15 points of the second set and rifled four aces during that time (a total of five for the match). SARA ROTH (Findlay/Van Buren) handed out 45 assists and also led the team defensively with 14 digs.
The final opponent from the OAC the Beavers matched up with was the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum, whom they played just one week ago in Wooster. This time, the match went to the Muskies in five after the Beavers took the first two sets (25-21, 26-24, 22-25, 22-25, 13-15). McFarlin led the home team with 22 kills, while Brown, Parmenter, and ASHLEY LITWILLER (Hopedale, Ill./Olympia) also added 14, 13, and 10 kills, respectively.
