15 questions for Lauren Morrow
A: I loved the campus! When I visited, I really liked how trusting the community was. When Coach took me to lunch, I love how everyone can just leave their book bag and coats lying around and people respect others property. I feel safe at a college where I don't have to watch my belongings 24/7.
Q: How would your teammates describe you?
A: I guess I'm the team jokester. I'm a rather sarcastic person, and I'm good at it. A lot of people are caught off guard by it, but it usually gets everyone to smile. I just like everyone to have fun and laugh, so I joke around a lot to keep the mood light.
Q: What do you like most about being at Bluffton University?
A: I love the small town atmosphere. I grew up in a small town, and I just feel safe here. I like the school spirit, the general friendliness of the people, and everything that goes along with living in a small town.
Q: What is your favorite volleyball drill?
A: I'd probably have to go with triples or "Queen of the Court" as some call it. But if I had to pick an actual drill, I like Dig, Dig, Dug. But I'm down for anything that doesn't involve rolling.
Q: What has been your favorite class to date at Bluffton?
A: I'd have to go with Intro to Sociology, or Intro to Teaching in a Diverse Society. I loved doing field experience, and Sociology is just really interesting.
Q: What is your major? Why did you choose this major?
A: I am an English education major. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was about 12 or so, and English is just a subject I really enjoyed in high school. I love to write, especially when I really understand or feel very strongly about something, and I'm considering adding a minor in Journalism.
Q: What is the key to your position?
A: The biggest key to my position is setting the block. As the right side, you are blocking the opponent's power hitter, and the middle is on the move. You have to see where the ball and the other player is going, and set the block and talk to the middle so they know how far to come in order to close the block. As an outside hitter, keys are knowing where to hit the ball and covering tips as an off-blocker. I love hitting outside and being the go-to person.
Q: What are three things you have to have with you on a volleyball road trip?
A: iPod, pillow, and my toothbrush and gum. I can't stand having bad breath.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I have too many favorites, but I love anything with Adam Sandler.
Q: What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
A: I was a nerd when I was little. Most kids got TV or video games taken away, but my parents used to punish me by telling me I wasn't allowed to read my books.
Q: Who is/are your role model(s)?
A: I admired my cousins, Amy and Megan Harbolt, when I was growing up. They both played volleyball and softball, and I always went to watch their games when they were in high school. I wanted to be just like them.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Volleyball, and I played basketball and softball during high school too. I also like to read, hang out with friends, color, and just have fun!
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Chicken with ranch dressing, macaroni and cheese, and bologna.
Q: Who is one person you'd like to meet living or dead?
A: Either Dane Cook or Jeff Dunham. They are my two favorite comedians.
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: I have this strange fear of falling off of the stage in Founders. I'm also scared of tearing my ACL or injuring my knee somehow. I don't like snakes at all, and I don't like big spiders. I'm scared of needles, and I'm also afraid of birds that get too close to me. Other than that, I'm a fearless person. :)
