Bluffton University Student-Athlete Insurance
In order to have an intercollegiate sports injury processed under Bluffton University's athletic insurance policy, the insurance plan administrator, Commercial Travelers Mutual Insurance Company, requires the student-athlete to be seen and evaluated first by a Bluffton University certified athletic trainer or physician.
The Bluffton University student-athlete's injury must be related to their intercollegiate sport participation and the Bluffton University's athletic insurance serves as secondary insurance for medical bills if the student has primary insurance coverage through his or her parent(s).
If the student-athlete elects to seek care without prior knowledge of the certified athletic trainer, the student-athlete assumes responsibility for all medical charges related to the athletic injury.
Students need to present their primary insurance information and Commercial Travelers Mutual Insurance Company Billing Address when visiting a physician outside a Bluffton University affiliated physician.
