The Bluffton University men's basketball team (4-4) played one game last week on the
road at Hiram College
as they defeated the Terriers 78-66 on Dec. 18.
The team will be idle this week for the Christmas holiday, but will be back in action on Dec. 29-30 for the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. Teams in the tournament include Bluffton University, Lake Erie College, Denison University and Grove City College. Bluffton will play Denison University on Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. Check back soon to the Bluffton athletics web site for more information on the men's holiday tournament.
Bluffton University 78, HiramCollege 66
The Bluffton men's basketball team (4-4) defeated Hiram College (2-8) 78-66 on Dec. 18.
Sophomore Michael Anthony (Ohio City/ Delphos St. John's) led all scoring for the game with a career high 22 points. Junior Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore) posted 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior Eric Sweet connected on 12 points and a team high eight rebounds. Sophomore Eric Schwieterman (St. Henry/ St. Henry) posted his first collegiate start and netted a career high seven points.

into the locker rooms for halftime the Beavers led the game 42-34. Bluffton came into
the second quarter and shot 56 percent (14-of-25 shooting) to widen their lead and
end the game with the win, 78-66.
Leading the Beavers on the season
Junior Scott Bergman leads all scoring for Bluffton and ranks second in the Heartland Conference with 157 total points (19.6 ppg average). Bergman leads Bluffton in assists (20) and steals (16) for the season. He is second on the team in rebounding with 38 total (12 offensive, 26 defensive). Junior Eric Sweet leads the team in rebounds with 42 for the season (5.3 rpg average) and blocks with 15 for the year. Sweet is second on the squad in points with 93 total (11.6 ppg average) and ranks 15th in the HCAC in scoring. Sophomore Michael Anthony posts 82 points for the season (10.3 ppg average) to round off the double digit scoring for Bluffton. Anthony is tied for 20th in the conference in scoring.
