Denny Phillips
Now in his 14th season on the BC football staff, Denny Phillips coaches the defensive
secondary and serves as BC's strength and conditioning coach.
Last season the Bluffton pass defense ranked second in the Heartland Conference for the third year in a row, and the Beavers picked off 16 passes and totaled 283 yards in returns, just one yard shy of the school record. He has produced at least one All-HCAC defensive back the last four years and coached two such athletes last season.
A native of Castalia, Ohio, Phillips earned Associated Press All-America honors in track at Margaretta High School before arriving at BC, where he lettered in track and basketball. He was Bluffton's head track coach in the early 1990s, leading his teams to three conference titles in the Association of Mideast Colleges. His football coaching experience also includes stops at Lima Perry and Leipsic.
He now teaches health and physical education in the Bluffton school system and lives in Bluffton with his wife Kaye and sons Adam and Justin.
