Bluffton upsets Franklin 94-92
Bluffton College topped a visiting Franklin College squad 94-92 Wednesday night in Founders Hall. Franklin entered the game 4-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and were ranked #3 in the latest Midwest Region NCAA Coaches' Poll. It was Bluffton's first HCAC win of the season.
Bluffton (8-7, 1-3 HCAC) was led by Jeremy Roberts (Bucyrus/Wynford) with 26 points on 11 of 15 shooting, as the junior went over the 1,000 point mark in his career at Bluffton.
BC went up by as many as 17 points in the first half and held a six point half time lead. The Beavers led in the second half by as many as 15 points before a furious Franklin comeback narrowed the margin to two points with :47 to go. Free throws by Roberts, however, sealed the win for BC.
Junior Chad Cramer (Bellevue) added 15 points for Bluffton, while Travis Elsass (Wapakoneta/Jackson Center) added 13 points and a game-high nine assists. Sophomore Rod Overmyer (Payne/Wayne Trace) chipped in 12 points.
Both teams shot incredibly well from the field. Franklin shot .578 while BC shot .556. BC canned 10 three point field goals to just four for Franklin.
Billy Scott led Franklin (11-5, 4-1 HCAC) with 22 points.
Bluffton will return to action Saturday at 3:00 in Founders Hall against Wilmington College.
