Haverford 10, Bluffton 2
March 12, 2016
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Haverford College was too much for the Bluffton University baseball team on the final day of the Florida swing as the Beavers dipped to 4-5 following a 10-2 setback on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
The Fords scored in four of the first five innings, rolling out to an 8-0 lead before the Beavers broke the ice with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Tommy Nobile (Reynoldsburg) singled home Clayton Siders (Delaware/Worthington Christian) making the score 8-1 heading to the seventh inning.
Siders picked up Brandon Marable (Columbus/Hamilton Township) with an RBI single a frame later, but the Fords put the game away with solo runs in the eighth and ninth for a final 10-2 margin.
Corey Johnson (Chillicothe/Waverly) dropped his second decision in Florida, allowing five runs on eight hits in four innings of work. He fanned four and walked one batter. Siders and Nobile drove in runs for the Beavers.
Stephen Ridings drew rave reviews from the major league scouts during his five innings of work for the Fords. He used his low to mid 90's fastball to set down 10 hitters in just five innings on the mound. Ridings walked three and allowed just one hit.
Bluffton jumps right back into action on Tuesday, March 15, when the Beavers host local rival Ohio Northern at Memorial Field. The first pitch is slated for 4:15 PM.
