Phoenix Piano Quartet is a collaboration of faculty from Arizona State University and Bowling Green State University. The quartet has been performing chamber music recitals to critical acclaim across the United States since its founding in 2005. It is committed to programming a wide variety of repertoire, from classical masterpieces by Mozart and Beethoven to exciting new works by modern day composers, including James DeMars and Stephen Hartke. The members of the Phoenix Piano Quartet are true artist-teachers, finding outlet for their passions on the concert stage and in the teaching studio in equal measure. Members of the quartet include violinist Jonathan Swartz, who while serving on the faculties at Arizona State University, the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory and Interlochen Arts Camp has maintained a prolific performing career; Nancy Buck, associate professor of viola at ASU and a former associate professor at BGSU who has appeared throughout the U.S. and Europe as a chamber musician and soloist; Thomas Landschoot, assistant professor of cello at ASU who has played solo and chamber music recitals in Europe, the U.S. and Japan; and pianist Laura Melton, associate professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at BGSU and a member of the summer faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp.
