February 21, 2008 - Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital

Due to an unexpected situation, the previously scheduled artist, Adam Golka, is unable to perform on February 21.  Instead, pianist Jie Chen will perform on the same date.

Jie Chen, pianistBorn in Guang Dong, China, Jie Chen started playing the piano at age four and was accepted into the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory at age eight before coming to America in 1998 to study at the Curtis Institute with Claude Frank and Seymour Lipkin. She graduated from Curtis and is now continuing her studies at the Mannes College of Music with Jerome Rose in New York. She has performed all over the United States and internationally in Italy, Poland, Germany, Israel, Spain and France.

In 2006 Jie Chen won the first Villa-Lobos International Piano Competition’s silver medal. In the fall of 2007, she released her first solo disc.

Tickets: Individual event prices are $22 for adults, $16 for senior citizens and students, $12 for Bluffton faculty/staff, no charge for Bluffton students.
