What made you want to be a teacher?
My mother and father were both teachers, so I have always had that influence in my life. I could also see the positive aspects of teaching, such as working with people, having the summers off and being able to do what I love (art) and share that with others.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up here in Bluffton, and my dad was a faculty member of the university.

What is your favorite subject to teach?
I have taught everything in the art department except for painting. Ceramics, sculpture, photography and print are my favorite to teach, and I am starting a glass program.

What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place is probably along the Riley Creek, for it's beauty and reflection on memories of my childhood.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to make art, and most of my free time over the years has been dedicated to raising my five children (who are now grown) and encouraging their activities. I also refinish furniture, make wine and enjoy watching and playing team sports.

What was your first job?
I sold vegetables from a cart as my very first job, worked on farms and had one summer of factory work.

Where did you attend college?
I went to the University of Montana to receive my master of fine arts degree.

Where is someplace you would like to visit?
Anywhere in the mountains, and probably Portland, Oregon, because three of my kids live there with their families.

Where is your favorite place to vacation?

What are some things on your bucket list ?
I do not really have any particular goals. I'd be content to keep doing what I'm doing. I want to spend as much time with my family as possible and continue to make art as long as I possibly can.
