I joined the Bluffton Adult and Graduate Studies team in March of 2009 after having taught part-time in the BCOMP and MBA programs for nine years. My primary responsibility is to work with students, and potential students, that will be participating in the BCOMP and MBA programs at the Northwest State Community College location.
After 35 years as a human resource management professional, I elected to use my HR background to recruit and work with adults desiring to advance their education. Many years ago I completed a master s degree program that was cohort-based and designed for working adults. I continue teaching part-time for Bluffton and this provides a hands-on familiarity with our programs.
I first learned of the Adult and Graduate Studies programs when my daughter was attending Bluffton as a traditional student. I began teaching BCOMP courses in 2000 and then expanded into the MBA program. I have learned firsthand how Bluffton offers a solid education based on strong values and principles. I am excited to work with adults in NW Ohio wishing to continue their education.
My wife and I have resided in Wauseon, Ohio, since 1973. Northwest Ohio is our home and where our three children were born and raised. Our daughter Beth graduated from Bluffton in 2002, and her husband, Ryan Whitaker, graduated from Bluffton in 2004. Beth and Ryan have two sons, Carson and Liam, and we enjoy being grandparents. Our oldest son, Matt, lives and works in Wauseon. Our youngest, Mike, is married to Brittany and both are teachers. My wife, Sharon, is a retired school teacher having taught her final 32 years in the Wauseon school system.
We are active members of the North Clinton Mennonite Church in Wauseon. My primary hobbies include camping, walking, traveling, reading and following various sports teams. I also serve on boards for two non-profit organizations.
