International Scholarships

Bluffton University offers a broad range of scholarships to recognize achievement in many different areas. If you are an outstanding student, chances are there is a scholarship or award available for you. Select a link and explore your opportunities for scholarships and grants.

International First-year students may be eligible to receive one of the following awards:

Presidential Scholarship Competition

Students with a 3.5 GPA (or higher) and a 25 ACT/1130 SAT (or higher) automatically qualify to participate in the annual Presidential Scholarship Competition on  Jan. 27, 2018. Students attending this event compete for two full-tuition Presidential scholarships.

  • Presidential Scholarship
    This is a full-tuition scholarship valued at more than $100,000 for four years. Two scholarships are awarded each year to winners of the Presidential Scholarship Competition. This scholarship is renewable all four years if student maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

 

Academic scholarships

  • Ivy Scholarship
    This prestigious $15,000 award (valued at $60,000 for four years) is given to high-achieving students who have distinguished academic records and accomplishments, based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores at time of admittance.
  • Distinguished Academic Scholarship
    This $14,000 annual scholarship (valued at $56,000 for four years) is awarded to new students with high academic standing who have proven themselves in the classroom and beyond. It is awarded based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable all four years if student maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • international Achievement Scholarship
    This $12,000 annual scholarship (valued at $48,000 for four years) is named in honor of Bluffton University's trustees who actively invest their time and resources into Bluffton students. Awarded to new students based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable all four years if student maintains a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • National Honors Scholarship
    This $10,000 annual scholarship (valued at $40,000 for four years) is named in recognition of the 100+ years of education that Bluffton University has provided students in preparing them to impact the global community. Awarded to new students based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at time of admittance. This scholarship is renewable all four years if student maintains a cumulative 2.3 GPA.
  • University Scholarship
    This $5,000 annual scholarship is valued at $20,000 for four years. Founded in 1899, Bluffton University seeks to prepare students of all backgrounds for life as well as vocation. This scholarship is given to new students who seek to continue discovering their academic potential. It is awarded based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT score at time of admittance and is renewable all four years if student maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

 

Academic department scholarships

  • Natural & Applied Sciences Scholarship
    Students majoring in math, physics, chemistry, biology, pre-med or dietetics may apply for a renewable $17,000 or $18,000 renewable science scholarship. Qualifying students will be invited to interview for this scholarship which is renewable all four years.  >>> more information
  • Performing Scholar Music Scholarship
    Four $21,000 scholarships will be awarded each year, starting in 2017-2018, to winners of the Performing Scholar Competition. This scholarship is renewable all four years.    >>> more information
  • Music Major Scholarship
    A $2,000 scholarship (valued at $8,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students majoring in music based on an audition for Bluffton University music faculty.    >>> more information
  • Music Ensemble Scholarship
    A $1,000 award (valued at $4,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students, not majoring in music, based on an audition for Bluffton University music faculty.   >>> more information
  • Art Scholarship
    A $1,000 scholarship (valued at $4,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students whose art portfolios are highly rated by Bluffton University art faculty. Portfolios must be submitted no later than March 1 for consideration. >>> more information

 

Additional grants

  • International Student Grant
    This grant ranging from $1,000-$9,000 recognizes that international students encounter additional costs to travel to Bluffton University. $1,000 is automatically given to all qualified applicants and new students may apply for up to $9,000 based on financial need. This grant is renewable for four years.
