Transfer Scholarships and Grants

Entering transfer students are eligible to receive one of the following scholarships or grants. There is no additional process to apply for these awards, other than successfully completing the transfer student application for admission.

 

Transfer Honors Scholarship-$12,000
Awarded to new transfer students with a 3.5 and higher cumulative college GPA. Students must have at least 23 quarter hours or 15 semester hours at the time of enrollment to qualify. A 2.75 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.
 
Transfer Achievement Scholarship-$10,000
Awarded to new transfer students with a 3.0 cumulative college GPA. Students must have at least 23 quarter hours or 15 semester hours at the time of enrollment to qualify. A 2.75 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.
 
Transfer Scholarship-$8,000
Awarded to new transfer students with a 2.5 cumulative college GPA. Students must have at least 23 quarter hours or 15 semester hours at the time of enrollment to qualify. A 2.3 GPA is required in order to maintain this scholarship.
 
Transfer Grant-$6,000
This award is given to new transfer students with a 2.0 GPA. Students must have at least 23 quarter hours or 15 semester hours at the time of enrollment to qualify.

 

Academic departmental scholarships

  • Music Major Scholarship
    A $2,000 scholarship (valued at $8,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students majoring in music based on an audition for Bluffton University music faculty.

  • Music Ensemble Scholarship
    A $1,000 award (valued at $4,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students, not majoring in music, based on an audition for Bluffton University music faculty.

  • Art Scholarship
    A $1,000 scholarship (valued at $4,000 for four years) is awarded to new Bluffton students whose art portfolios are highly rated by Bluffton University art faculty. Portfolios must be submitted no later than March 1 for consideration.

Additional grants

Students may be able to add these to one of the above listed scholarships/grants.

 

  • Mennonite Student Grant
    A $2,000 award (valued at $8,000 for four years) is given to new students who are members of a Mennonite Church USA congregation.
  • Alumni Grant
    Beginning in fall 2014, a $1,000 award is given to new first-year and new transfer students whose parents or grandparents are part of Bluffton University's 13,800+ alumni. >>>more information
  • Out-of-State Grant
    A $1,000 award (valued at $4,000 for four years) is given to new, out-of-state students to help off-set travel costs.
  • Community Enrichment Grant
    A $2,000 award (valued at $8,000 for four years) is given to new students from under-represented backgrounds at Bluffton. Students must submit an application for consideration. Recipients of this award are to participate in Bluffton's mentorship program  >>> more information
  • Bluffton Opportunity Grant
    Awarded to students based on completion of the FAFSA form. This award can be added to the above awards. This grant is awarded based on need as determined by the FAFSA. Amounts vary.
