Steps to apply

Bluffton University operates on a rolling admission plan, and you are welcome to apply anytime after completion of your junior year in high school.

If you haven’t done so already, take time to visit campus. You'll get a personalized look at our unique academic community and an automatic application fee waiver! If you live more than 250 miles away from Bluffton, take advantage of our Bluffton Fly/Drive program to make the travel feasible.

Check out our online application. (If you run into problems with the application, visit our technical assistance page.)

You can also download a printable version.

If you prefer, contact us and we’ll put a paper copy in the mail.

Complete the top portion of the guidance counselor recommendation form (pdf) and submit it to your counselor. Bluffton no longer requires a teacher recommendation.

Take the ACT or the SAT and have the scores sent to Bluffton. Bluffton's ACT number is 3238 and 1067 for SAT. Scores included with a signed transcript are considered official.

Next steps:

Apply for scholarships (check out Bluffton’s scholarship page) and take advantage of scholarship opportunities announced by your high school guidance counselor.

Register for a PIN for federal financial aid purposes. Both you and your parents will need one. You will use the same numbers each year.

In January, fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Priority deadline for filing is May 1.

Financial aid award notices are mailed to accepted students beginning March 1. Be sure to sign and return the notice confirming your decision to accept our offer of financial assistance.

 Send your deposit of $100.

Submit a Student Housing Questionnaire form. This helps us to match you with the perfect roommate. Contact Jackie Wells, Director of Residence Life with any questions: 419-358-3376.

Register for and attend one of our four summer orientation programs. You will meet with an academic advisor and register for classes during this event.

Start packing! Check out the what to bring/what not to bring lists.

Move onto campus and participate in the week-long fall orientation activities.
