"Put all things to the test."
Each year, the Pi Delta society funds a wide array of student research projects, ranging from conference fees to departmental honors research. Pi Delta is proud to support the advancement of knowledge and character in today's Bluffton University students.
These awards are to be used to cover expenses beyond the routine costs of a course (e.g. travel to conferences, xeroxing, inter-library loan, computer time, etc.). Expenses for attending a conference which are not related to an individual project usually do not qualify for Pi Delta monies.
Guidelines
- Any Bluffton student is eligible to apply for such an award. Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
- A student may receive only one award per project, with preference to first time recipients.
- The student must submit a written proposal, approved by a sponsoring faculty, to the Special Studies and Honors Committee. The proposal must include a brief description of his/her work, a rationale for needed monies and a budget outlining how the monies will be spent. (Proposals could also be submitted for work already completed during that academic year.)
- The maximum amount of any single award shall be $500. It is, however, recommended that students apply for smaller sums so as to make these awards available to a larger number of students.
- The award shall be in the form of a reimbursement for expenses incurred as validated by the faculty sponsor. Reimbursement shall be made through the academic dean’s office.
- Deadline for submitting applications is April 15.
