SOFTBALL TEAM TO STRIKE-OUT CANCER ON APRIL 24
The Bluffton University softball team will host its annual Strike-Out Cancer fundraiser for the American Cancer Society on April 24. The Beavers will meet Anderson University in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at the university softball field.
There are several ways to donate. A donation of $25 will sponsor any individual player on the team. To sponsor an additional player is $20. A form is available on the Bluffton softball Web site by clicking on "2010 Schedule" and scrolling down to the April 24 date. Donations will also be accepted immediately before, during and after the doubleheader. In addition, both teams will wear special pink and white uniforms that will be auctioned afterward to benefit the cancer society, which will have a representative on hand to accept the donation.
To start the day, cancer survivor Cliff Babcock, grandfather of Bluffton pitcher Brooke Babcock, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
