Also includes descriptions of various disabilites and a discussion of ways to determine whether it is a 'can't do' or 'won't do' issue. (1-3 hours)

A lecture and/or hands-on activites describing specific disabilities and how they may impact various settings. Appropriate for school age children, college classes, teaching staff and parent groups. (1-2 hours)

Encourage your child to write
Many children experience writing as an odious task. Other children find writing easy - even pleasurable. What makes the difference? As a writer, parent, and teacher of writing, I've come to believe that personal learning styles make a difference. But a household can be organized to be more conducive to writing. Parents can model and encourage appreciation for words on paper. Communities can also encourage writing just as they encourage music or sports.

The legal dos and don'ts of the special education process.
An update of legal expectations and responsibilities of using state policies and procedures as described by Ohio Department of Education. Participants would appropriately include parent groups, teachers, administrators and agencies serving special education students. (1-2 hours)
