Faculty Position in Restorative Justice

Full-time; Tenure-track; Rank Dependent on Qualifications

Qualifications
Advanced degree (PhD or ABD) in a social science discipline (e.g. sociology, criminology, conflict transformation, peace studies, political science, social work) or terminal degree in applied discipline (e.g. J.D., MSW). Commitment to excellence in liberal arts education and to social justice. Experience in the applied areas of restorative justice theory and practice, conflict resolution and mediation, and law in society, including transitional justice theory and practice.  Highly desirable:  undergraduate teaching experience; employment or consulting experience in the justice system, particularly with conflict resolution, mediation and community justice; interest and energy to participate in a developing restorative justice collaboration with colleagues, students, and the local community.

Responsibilities
Ability to teach a variety of restorative justice courses in the Criminal Justice program is required. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach courses in criminology, sociology, criminal justice, and/or political science. Additional responsibilities will include availability to students for academic advising and informal mentoring, coordination and supervision of off-campus internships and practicums, and typical college committee responsibilities.  Responsibilities of all faculty include teaching courses in the general education curriculum, which emphasizes an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to the liberal arts and sciences.

Compensation
Commensurate with education and experience within the university pay scale.

Appointment
Fall Semester 2008.
