Constitution of International Connection
Bluffton University
Preamble
The Constitution of the Bluffton University International Club is written to clarify the purpose
of the organization and to provide guidelines for decision making based on that purpose.
It is intended to provide sufficient structure as a foundation for the organization while
remaining flexible to the needs of the students involved.
Article I - Name

This organization be known as International Connection (ICon).
Article II - Purpose
Sec1
This organization will provide a setting and various activities for the
purpose of encouraging friendship among students from various backgrounds and cultures. The focus of our time, efforts and
finances will be toward building relationships and offerings opportunities for those involved in the organization to share
their culture within Bluffton campus and community. We will also encourage personal involvement in the border campus and
community opportunities.
Article III - Participation
Sec1
As an organization, we will encourage open participation in meetings and activities rather than emphasizing "membership" and
commitment to a "club." All Bluffton University and others affiliated with the university are welcome to participate in any and all ICon events.
Article IV - Leadership
Sec1
There shall be an Executive Board of four officers of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as two
appointed positions of Publicity Coordinator and Faculty Advisor. All officers shall be current students and active
participants in the organization.
Sec2
The President will preside over the meetings, coordinate the work of the Executive Board and work to carry out the
recommendations.
Sec3
The Vice-President shall assist the president in his/her and shall assume the duties of the President in his/her absence.
Sec4
The Secretary shall be responsible for recording and preserving the minutes of all meetings, shall attend to the written
correspondence and responsibilities, shall perform other tasks as delegated by the president.

The Treasure shall be responsible for all organization funds and the proper disbursement of such, maintain complete records of
income and expenditures of the organization, and report the balance of the budget when called upon to do so.
Sec6
A Publicity Coordinator may be appointed by the Executive Board to coordinate all publicity efforts for ICon activities and
will delegate specificresponsibilities to others as appropriate.
Sec7
The Faculty Advisor will be appointed by the Vice President for Enrollment Management
and Student Life.
Sec8
The members of the Executive Board will participate in the Bluffton University Leadership
Development Program which provides leadership training skills and support from and interaction with other students who hold
leadership roles on campus. The program includes the Student Leadership Retreat at the beginning of the school year and the
off-campus Mid-year Retreat in January, as well as several other planned events throughout the year.
Article V - Meetings
Sec1
Meetings shall be held every week with the flexibility to change dates and times as needed. Executive Board will plan the agenda
and activities withsuggestions and ideas from the participants. Some meetings times may flexible to coordinate our event with
another, to change encourage involvement in other campus events and to avoid scheduling conflicts with other campus events.
Article VI - Finances
Sec1
Funds will be requested from Student Senate allocations to cover the necessary expense
of the organization and will deposited with the Business Office.
Article VII - Elections and Voting
Sec1
Elections of an upcoming year shall be held during the monthof April. If an elected officer does not return in the fall as
expected, another electionwill be held by mid-September.
Sec2
An officer my be re-elected to hold the same or a different
office as long as they continue to be a full-time student.
Sec3
Nominations shall be taken from the participants. Candidates must be currently active participants during the year. Nominees
will be given a job description and sometime during the following week, they will be asked by a current officer whether he/she
accepts the nomination.
Sec4
Voting will be carried out by secret ballot. The first office to be voted on shall be the president, followed by the
vice-president, then secretary, then treasurer. The candidate with the highest number of votes is the incoming officer for the
next academic year.
Sec5
Students may participate in the organization at any time.Voting privileges will be granted to those who consider themselves to
be active participants No quorum is required for voting purposes.
Article VIII - Amendments
Sec1
Copies of the amended constitution shall be made availableto the membership one week
before the meeting when action will he taken on the amendments to be considered. A majority vote is needed to make the
proposed changes. An amended copy of the constitution shall be kept in the Student Life Office.
