Milwaukee Center

SOM [Skidmore, Owings and Merrill] (Houston Office)
1989

This 28 story skyscraper, of red brick, cream colored limestone, and bronze tinted windows, connects to the Wyndham Hotel and other entertainment facilities in the area. Like some other Post-Modern buildings, it is contextual--in this case imaginatively quoting the nearby Milwaukee City Hall, an important landmark. (Its 350 foot tower can be seen in the photograph at the bottom row left below.)

The river walk side

A beautiful river walk extends along the Milwaukee River side of the complex. The copper top, a pyramid, is lit at night.
