The rotunda

Site-specific glass installations by Tacoma native and internationally-acclaimed glass artist, Dale Chihuly

The "basket" wall-mural

The chandelier

Chihuly describes the original chandelier: "Hanging in the dome is a twenty-by-nine-by-three-foot Cobalt Blue Chandelier. Made of about two thousand parts, the piece is basically flat, an interesting element made necessary because of weight restrictions" (web site).

The chandelier photographed here is clearly not the so-called Cobalt Blue Chandelier pictured on Chihuly's web site cited above. The work here is described as being composed of 600 individually blown glass shells, the total weighing about one ton.

The monarch window

The Monarch Window looks out on Mount Rainier. It is made up of 27 monarch forms in glass sculpture set against the original window (22 by 40 feet).
