Nghe statues, 11th-13th century

This recurrent mythical figure in Asian art is sometimes called a unicorn (not like the western version, however), sometimes a dragon. This fabled animal symbolizes strength, intelligence, and purity. The figure is often placed at temples as a guardian symbol.
