Greek Theater, Segesta, Sicily

5th century BCE

View of theater toward orchestra

Like many early Greek theaters, this one is built into the side of the mountain and overlooks a scenic valley. A Doric temple and this theater, built in the 5th century BCE, have been discovered. But most of the ancient city of Segesta remains to be uncovered.
