Arena Chapel (or Scrovegni Chapel)

begun 1303; consecrated 1305

This chapel may have been built initially with the thought of having fresco decoration. The Florentine Giotto was brought to Padua to design and paint the interior of the chapel. Today these frescoes are still in superb condition. Some of them can be seen at this site by Carol Gerten and this site by Mark Harden.
