Rijksmuseum (restoration/remodel)--page 3 (of three pages)

Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos
2003

Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos (working with French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and restoration architect Van Hoogevest) altered the interior of the historic museum. They restored interior exhibition galleries to their original plan, added a pavilion for Asian art (not show here) and created a new entrance hall. The floor was lowered to link the two sides from below and added a rib-vaulted passageway dividing the space in two. This new entrance is not only striking but efficient.
