Overhoeks Tower ((A'dam Tower)

Arthur Staal
1971

This skyscraper, once the tallest building in Amsterdam, began its life as the Dutch headquarters of oil company Royal Dutch Shell, but after three decades, it is now occupied by bars, restaurants and an observation deck with striking 360 degree panoramic views across all of Amsterdam. Now called A'dam Tower (short for Amsterdam Tower), this 22 floor building on the banks of the river IJ, just across from Central Station, is the center of an exciting night life. There is a revolving restaurant on the 19th floor as well.
