Parc Colonnades, Potsdamer Platz

Giorgio Grassi; Schweger and Partner; Diener & Diener
2001

A row of H-shaped apartment buildings

These buildings, directly across from Sir Richard Rogers' huge and dramatic Daimler Office and Retail Building, separated only by a broad grassy space, are connected on the ground floor by a long arcade.

The head building at Potsdamer Platz by Schweger and Partner

According to Verlag, this dominant building "is intended to recall the forms of the pre-war building 'Haus Vaterland,' a famous place of entertainment in its days which was built in 1911/12 by Franz Schwechter. The glass facade reflects the glass steel architecture of the Sony skyscraper at Potsdamer Platz" (104).
