Kent Hotel

L. Murray Dixon
1939
1131 Collins Avenue

An asymmetrical facade

Unlike many Art Deco structures with the typical tripartite facade, this hotel is dramatically asymmetrical, even to the sign, which seems to grow out of the second story eyebrows. Portholes on the lower register repeat the nautical theme found so often in South Beach hotels.
