Imperial Hotel

L. Murray Dixon
1939
650 Ocean Drive

This three-story Art Deco hotel has the typical tripartite facade with a wide central bay topped by a kind of ziggurat. The vertical bas relief design uses an organic motif. Like most of the Miami Beach hotels, it too has the sun shading eyebrows which wrap around the corner. The square motif of the eight-paned sash windows is echoed in the square tiles forming opposing "L"s on the central bay.
