St. Magnus Martyr

Sir Christopher Wren
1671-6; steeple: 1705

View of the nave

Like many of Wren's city churches, this is on a cramped site. The interior is plain and the arched windows of the nave were replaced by portholes in the late 18th century.

The steeple

The steeple rises 185 feet (56 meters). Above the usual square bell-tower stage, the structure changes to an octagon, which supports a small lead cupola, lantern, and smaller spire.
