Brattle Square Church (now First Baptist Church)

Built for the Brattle Square Unitarian congregation, this church was Richardson's first important commission and his earliest use of the Romanesque style with which he is often identified.

 

The monumental tower, with a frieze depicting the Sacraments, designed by Bartholdi, and the cloister
