Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel

John Portman and Associates
1985

This hotel is billed as the largest convention hotel in the southeast. Marquis One and Marquis Two Towers are positioned on the north and south of the entrance.

This hotel's lobby is even more spectacular than Portman's Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, designed almost 20 year earlier. The central atrium here is 50 stories high. Metal balcony railings add a decorative quality. Portman's signature glass-walled "bubble" elevator can be seen at the top of the left photograph.
