With assistance from a federal Title III technology grant, our group (four Bluffton College students and English professor Jeff Gundy) explored the theory and practice of using computers to assist writing instruction.
In the fall of 2001 we read widely in the literature in the field and conducted trials using two commercial CWI programs. One,
ConnectWeb, is web-based, while the other,
Daedalus Integrated Writing
Environment, is designed to be installed on a campus network. We also took part in a series of workshops on using computer technology.
Our project is continuing in the spring 2002 semester. We have explored the use of computer writing technology in Jeff Gundy's classes, and developed web pages related to those classes. You will find links to them here, along with other pages describing our experience, discoveries, and conclusions and offering links to the best resources we have found. This site also includes some intriguing links we have found, as well as the exploratory web pages and email correspondence that we produced in the fall
term.
