Temple Street Parking Garage

Paul Rudolph
1962

The huge proportions--of a mere parking garage--and bold scale, like that of a freeway, dominate this urban street.

The balustrade (about 800 feet long) is punctuated at the double columns. One is reminded of the Roman aqueducts by the boldness of this poured-in-place concrete structure.

Other Rudolph buildings on this site include: Art and Architecture Building, Yale, Jewett Art Center, Wellesley College, and State Health, Education and Welfare Services Center.
